The Maharashtra government, in a move that will bring major relief to lakhs of women across the state, has extended the deadline for completing the e-KYC process under the chief minister’s Mazi Ladki Bahin
Scheme to 31 December 2025. The announcement was made by women & child development minister Aditi Tatkare, who said the decision reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring that no eligible woman is left out due to unavoidable hardships.
The e-KYC process is being carried out on a massive scale across the state. However, several districts have recently been hit by severe natural calamities, disrupting daily life and causing widespread loss. Many women, particularly single, vulnerable, or displaced beneficiaries, have reported difficulties in receiving OTPs on their Aadhaar-linked mobile numbers. In some cases, mobile numbers were linked to family members who have passed away; in others, women have lost access to their registered SIMs due to displacement or damage.
Initially, the government had set November 18, 2025, as the deadline. But considering the ground realities and the distress caused by recent disasters, the deadline has now been extended by more than a year. The decision was taken under the guidance of chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, and deputy chief ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar.
Officials said the priority is to ensure seamless continuation of benefits under the scheme, which has become a crucial financial support system for women across Maharashtra. “The government does not want technical issues or unavoidable situations to prevent any eligible woman from availing her rightful assistance,” Tatkare said. She also appealed to all beneficiaries to complete their e-KYC at the earliest, despite the extended timeline, so that disbursements remain smooth and uninterrupted.
With this extension, the government hopes to provide enough time and flexibility for every eligible woman, especially those affected by calamities, to complete the required verification without stress or fear of exclusion.
