The Indian women’s cricket team has arrived in Thiruvananthapuram for the third T20I of the ongoing five-match home series against Sri Lanka. The remaining games will take place at the Greenfield International Stadium.
The Women in Blue hold a commanding 2-0 lead in the series, having triumphed in the first two matches at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. Captained by Harmanpreet Kaur, the team will aim to secure the series with an unassailable 3-0 lead by winning the next match on Friday.
On Thursday, the BCCI shared a video highlighting the team’s journey, featuring players taking photos with fans at the airport. India’s newest debutant, Vaishnavi Sharma, was seen capturing moments of her teammates during the flight. The video also
showed the players and staff receiving a warm welcome upon their arrival in Trivandrum.
In the video, Vaishnavi commented, “On today’s flight, I was the photographer, and I took some really amazing pictures. I’ll be taking picture credit, thank you!”

Reflecting on the series so far, India showcased disciplined bowling in the first T20I, restricting Sri Lanka to 121/6. Jemimah Rodrigues led the chase with a stylish 69 off 44 balls, guiding India to an easy eight-wicket victory.
The second T20I followed a similar narrative, with Sri Lanka scoring 128/9 after batting first. Despite some steady contributions, they lacked major partnerships. India responded assertively, with Shafali Verma delivering a blistering unbeaten 69 off just 34 deliveries. Her aggressive innings powered India to a seven-wicket win, reaching the target in just 11.5 overs.
Both teams are preparing for next year’s T20 World Cup, scheduled to be held in England from June 12. The league stage of the tournament will conclude on June 28, with the final set to take place on July 5 at the iconic Lord’s.
