Ducati rider Marc Marquez clinched the title at the San Marino Grand Prix on Sunday to inch closer to his seventh MotoGP title as he extended his lead at the top of the standings.
Marc is 182 points ahead of his brother Alex with six race weekends left to go in the ongoing season of the MotoGP championship, and has the opportunity to go on level with the legendary Valentino Rossi’s record at the Japan MotoGP later this month.
Marquez commemorated the victory with a celebration that resembled the iconic gesture of Argentine World Cup-winner Lionel Messi following his injury-time winner against Real Madrid back during his days in Barcelona.

At 32 years
old, Marc Marquez clinched the 99th Grand Prix win of his career after starting fourth on the grid and subsequently winning a thrilling battle with Marco Bezzecchi.
Similar to Saturday’s sprint race, Marquez surged past Fabio Quartararo and his brother Alex Marquez at the start, positioning himself behind Bezzecchi.
However, unlike Saturday when he slid off the track after overtaking Bezzecchi, Marquez made no such error once he took the lead on lap 12.
He capitalised on Bezzecchi’s mistake, who went wide on a corner during lap 12, and then rode brilliantly to secure his 11th GP win of a remarkable season, in which he has also claimed 14 sprints.

It was another dismal weekend for Bezzecchi’s compatriot Francesco Bagnaia, who started in eighth, his lowest ever grid position at Misano, and then slid off the track during the 10th lap.
Joan Mir, who missed all of Saturday’s action due to a neck injury sustained on Friday, crashed out on the first lap alongside France’s Johann Zarco.
