BJP MP Slaps Operator After Being Stuck In Crane During Ekta Diwas Event | Video

Ganesh Singh, Member of Parliament (MP) of the BJP from Madhya Pradesh’s Satna, has landed in a controversy after a video, in which he was seen slapping a man, has gone viral on social media.

The incident

took place at Semariya Chowk in Satna during the ‘Run For Unity’ event organised to celebrate the Ekta Diwas, marking the 150th birth anniversary of India’s first Home Minister, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

As per reports, the MP took part in the ‘Run for Unity’ event and later, he reached Semaria Chowk in Satna to garland Dr B R Ambedkar’s statue. He was being lifted aloft by a hydraulic crane to garland the statue. However, while descending, the crane stopped mid-air and Singh kept hanging in the air for about a minute. When the machine started again, it moved unevenly, causing an imbalance.

Anguished over the incident, the MP called the crane operator, pulled his hand, and slapped him in front of everyone. Several BJP workers, administrative officials, and local citizens witnessed the scene. One of them recorded the incident on a mobile phone, and the video went viral on social media platforms, drawing sharp reactions from the public and opposition parties.

Congress Condemns Act

Congress’s Madhya Pradesh unit spokesperson Abhinav Baroliya criticised the violent act, saying it reflected the arrogance of BJP leaders.

“The MP slapping a municipal worker shows how conceited BJP leaders have become. This proves the party is no longer for the people, but only for its own pride,” he said as quoted by Bhaskar English.

The birth anniversary of Patel is being celebrated as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) on October 31 since 2014.

Sardar Patel was born on October 31, 1875, in Nandia, Gujarat. Also known as the “Iron Man of India,” he was the nation’s first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister. He is widely recognised for his pivotal role in the integration of over 560 princely states and the Indian Union after Independence.
