New Delhi, Oct 11 (PTI) Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday provided ex gratia of Rs 1 crore each to the families of 11 Corona warriors and said the financial aid is a “symbol of Delhi government’s
gratitude” towards their “service, sacrifice, and dedication”.
The frontline workers of Delhi remained dedicated to their duties, risking their lives when everything came to a halt during the COVID-19 pandemic, Gupta said in a post on X.
“That feeling of service and dedication saved thousands of lives. The Delhi government stands with the families of those Karmyogis who sacrificed their lives on duty, discharging their responsibilities,” she said.
In an interaction with the family members of the deceased Corona warriors, while handing over cheques of the ex gratia amount, CM Gupta assured them of help from the Delhi government in the future.
The families which were provided the financial assistance included kin of two Border Security Force (BSF) officers.
A high level group comprising Delhi cabinet ministers Ashish Sood, Kapil Mishra, and Pankaj Kumar Singh was formed in June to fast-track the disbursal process to provide relief to the families of Corona warriors.
“These are not just cheques, but a symbol of the Delhi Government’s gratitude for service, sacrifice, and dedication,” Gupta said regretting “apathy” in providing the relief that was now been provided to them with dignity.
Speaking at a gathering at the Delhi Secretariat, the CM remarked that no government can ever truly compensate for the loss of a human life. Still, it is the their moral duty to provide every possible support to such families.
The ex gratia was provided to the families of V Nangthanlian (Department of Trade and Taxes), Raj Bala Garg (GTB Hospital), Babita (CBPACS), Rohan Joshi (MCD), Dr Ravinder Kumar Goel (DGHS), Aniyamma Reji (MAMC), Biswajit Das (DTC), Rajesh Kumar (Department of Education), Dr Naveen Ram (BSF), Dr Vijay Singh Rajan (BSF), and Arun Sood (DHS).
CM Gupta added that the Delhi government has taken this just and compassionate step to restore these families’ rightful dues and honour the legacy of their loved ones. PTI VIT NB NB
