Akshay Kumar has become closely associated with franchise films over the years, something Ajay Devgn even joked about in the Golmaal 5 announcement video. Referring to Akshay, Ajay had said, “Koi bhi franchise nahi chhodhta hai,” hinting at how the actor is often seen returning to popular film universes.
Last year, Akshay appeared in three franchise films, Kesari Chapter 2, Housefull 5 and Jolly LLB 3. He also has Welcome To The Jungle, the third instalment in the Welcome franchise, lined up. However, despite fresh speculation, it seems one sequel that he is not a part of is Salaam-E-Ishq 2.
Akshay Kumar Not In Salaam-E-Ishq Sequel?
On Friday, Variety India reported that filmmaker Nikkhil Advani is planning a sequel to his 2007 film Salaam-E-Ishq
and that Akshay Kumar would be part of it. However, a later report by Pinkvilla stated that the actor has not been approached for the film.
A source told the portal, “The sequel might be happening or may not, but Akshay Kumar has not been involved in it. The reports suggesting he has come on board are completely baseless.”
This means that while discussions around a possible Salaam-E-Ishq sequel may be doing the rounds, Akshay’s involvement in the project has been denied for now.
About Salaam-E-Ishq
Released in 2007, Salaam-E-Ishq was directed by Nikkhil Advani and featured a massive ensemble cast. The film starred Anil Kapoor, Govinda, Salman Khan, Juhi Chawla, Akshaye Khanna, John Abraham, Priyanka Chopra, Vidya Balan, Ayesha Takia, Shannon Esra, Sohail Khan and Isha Koppikar.
The film followed six couples and explored different shades of love, relationships and emotional complications. Despite its star-heavy cast and ambitious narrative, Salaam-E-Ishq failed to perform well at the box office.
Akshay Kumar’s Upcoming Films
Akshay Kumar recently tasted success with Bhooth Bangla and has several projects in the pipeline. The actor will next be seen in Welcome To The Jungle, Haiwaan, Vedat Marathe Veer Daudle Saat, an Anees Bazmee directorial and Golmaal 5.
