Heinrich Klaasen has arguably been Sunrisers Hyderabad’s best batter in IPL 2026, and during their 14th league match of the ongoing season, he entered the record books by becoming the first player in the world to score 600-plus runs in a T20 series while batting at No. 4 or lower.

Klaasen, who was retained by SRH for Rs 23 crore ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, needed 45 runs on Friday (May 22) against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Hyderabad, to take his tally past the 600-run mark in IPL 2026 and he reached the milestone in the 15th over of SRH’s innings.
Before Klaasen, the record for the most runs scored in a T20 series or tournament by a batter batting at No. 4 or lower belonged to Rishabh
Pant. The left-handed Indian wicketkeeper-batter had scored 579 runs in 11 innings for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2018.
Klaasen, who played a knock of 51 runs from 24 balls for SRH on Friday in front of home fans, has 606 runs to his name in IPL 2026. He has slammed six half-centuries in this year’s IPL.

Klaasen is SRH’s highest run-getter in IPL 2026. During his stay at the crease against RCB on Friday, he hammered 2 fours and 5 sixes for the Pat Cummins-led side. Klaasen was sent back to the pavilion by Krunal Pandya in the 17th over. In an attempt to play a big shot on the second ball, he was caught by Venkatesh Iyer. But before making his way back to the pavilion, Klaasen added 113 runs from just 48 balls for the third wicket with Ishan Kishan.
Ishan, like Klaasen, has also scored a half-century in the ongoing match for SRH. At the time of Klaasen’s dismissal, he was batting on 66 runs from 36 balls.
