But why is Kohli in Delhi?
I knew the wind felt calmer, the trees were dancing with more joy, and the sky seemed bluer for a reason. https://t.co/K9mQEqvde8

RCB And Beyond
Kohli, a loyal Royal Challengers Bangalore campaigner, tasted his maiden success when the Men in Red lifted their first-ever IPL trophy earlier this year. However, the rumour mills kicked into full gear when news about Kohli refusing to renew his contract surfaced on social media.
Several dailies had earlier reported that Kohli hadn’t renewed his contract with the franchise ahead of IPL 2026.
However, putting rumours to rest, former cricketer turned commentator Aakash Chopra maintained that the 36-year-old’s denial to renew a commercial contract with Royal Challengers Bangalore did not suggest that he wouldn’t show up for another season for the franchise.
In a YouTube video on his channel, Chopra said:
“He has reportedly refused a commercial contract, but what does that mean? He will definitely play for RCB. If he is playing, he is definitely going to turn out for the same franchise.”

“He (Kohli) has just won the trophy. Why will he leave the franchise then? He isn’t going anywhere. What contract can be refused is in the realm of speculation. He might have a dual contract,” he further added.
ODI – Last Of Kohli?
One Day International (ODI) is the only format in which Kohli is currently active.
Kohli concluded his Test career with 9,230 runs in 123 matches, placing him as India’s fourth-highest run-scorer. Over his 14-year Test tenure, he scored 30 centuries and 31 fifties.
As for the T20 format, the modern cricket great departed on high: “This is the last T20 Game that I have played for India”, said Kohli after receiving the Player of the Match award for his half-century knock in the T20I final against South Africa in the T20 World Cup 2024.
The big question, however, from the cricket community has always been: “Will Kohli play the 2027 ODI World Cup?”
Only time would tell.
