Captain Nat Sciver-Brunt top-scored for England in the final of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026. In the summit clash taking place at Lord’s in London against Australia on Sunday (July 5), she played an unbeaten knock of 58 runs from 53 balls for the hosts and helped them post a total of 150/4. During her stay at the crease, she hammered five fours and added an unbeaten 80 runs from 55 balls for the fifth wicket with Freya Kemp, who scored 44 runs from 28 balls.

The half-century by Sciver-Brunt in the final of the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup entered her name in the record books. She is the first English and overall the third captain in the world to score a half-century in the final of the ICC
Women’s T20 World Cup.
Before her, in the final of the 2016 Women’s T20 World Cup at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, Australia skipper Meg Lanning and West Indies captain Stafanie Taylor also scored half-centuries. While Stafanie Taylor played a knock of 59 runs in that match, Lanning scored 52 runs from 49 balls with the help of eight fours.

The previous record for the highest individual score in a Women’s T20 World Cup final by an England captain was in the name of Charlotte Edwards. In the final of the 2012 Women’s T20 World Cup, Charlotte Edwards had scored 28 runs from 23 balls against Australia at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on October 7.
The half-century by Sciver-Brunt on Sunday also helped her take the No. 1 position in the list of players with the most 50-plus scores in Women’s T20 World Cup history. She has slammed nine fifties in 33 matches played so far.
