Inside GG Women Vs DC Women WPL 2026 Eliminator: Big Hits & Turning Points

Star India batter Jemimah Rodrigues led from the front as Delhi Capitals produced a commanding performance to defeat the Gujarat Giants by seven wickets in the Eliminator of the 2026 Women’s Premier League, sealing their place in the final, on Tuesday at the BCA Stadium in Kotambi, Vadodara, under Jemimah’s leadership.

With four wins and as many losses from the league stage, Delhi had come into the Eliminator with Gujarat as the clear favourites, but the four-time finalists pulled off a brilliant chase, which ensured GG didn’t have any chance to eke out a win.

Put in to bat first, Gujarat found themselves at 59/4 in the ninth over before Beth Mooney and her compatriot Georgia Wareham added 61 runs for the fifth wicket.

GG soon slipped to 125/6

in the 17th over, before Mooney and Kashvee Gautam stitched together a 39-run partnership for the seventh wicket to help Gujarat post a respectable 168/7.

Turning Point

In the chase, Lizelle Lee and Shafali Verma smacked the Gujarat bowlers all around the park to snatch away all the momentum that GG had gathered from a late flourish with the bat.

Lee and Shafali added 89 runs for the opening stand before the former was dismissed by Wareham. Delhi soon found themselves at 92/2 in the eighth over, before Rodrigues and Laura Wolvaardt added 68 runs for the third wicket to take DC closer to the target.

Big Hits

In reply, DC got off to a blistering start as Verma and Lee went on the attack, exploiting the fielding restrictions. The pair smashed 15 boundaries and a six to surge to 89/0, threatening to turn the chase into a formality.

Just as the two big-hitters seemed all set to bat GG out of the contest, Wareham (2/28) sparked a brief fightback by removing both openers in the same over.

Lee powered the chase with a 24-ball 43-run knock, batting at a strike rate of 179.17, while Rodrigues played a match-winning innings of 23-ball 41, batting at 178.26.
