Kartavya Path lit up with 1.25 lakh diyas on Thursday as part of the ‘Aashirwad Ka Diya’ celebrations marking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 76th birthday.
The large-scale diya-lighting programme saw citizens gather at the iconic Delhi avenue to mark the occasion and offer their blessings and good wishes for the Prime Minister’s health and long life.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta also joined the celebrations at Kartavya Path, where she lit diyas and extended her wishes for Modi’s good health, long life and continued service to the nation. The Chief Minister’s Office shared pictures and details of the event on social media.
According to the CMO, the illumination of Kartavya Path with 1.25 lakh diyas reflected the spirit of kartavya (duty), seva
(service) and public participation. The office also linked the event to the vision of development and a developed India.
The ‘Aashirwad Ka Diya’ initiative is part of the wider celebrations being held across the country on Modi’s birthday. People have been encouraged to light lamps at their homes and public places as a gesture of blessings and goodwill.

In Delhi, the celebrations are also linked to the BJP’s month-long ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’, which began on September 17 and is being held to mark 25 years of Modi’s public life. The campaign includes a range of public-service activities.
Several other programmes were also organised in the national capital to mark the occasion, including a large blood donation drive, religious ceremonies and welfare-focused initiatives.
The Kartavya Path event was among several major diya-lighting programmes held across the country. Similar celebrations were reported from Ujjain and Assam, where thousands of diyas were lit to mark the Prime Minister’s birthday.
The evening illumination at Kartavya Path added to the nationwide celebrations centred on the ‘Aashirwad Ka Diya’ initiative.
