Atlee Praises Rishab Shetty’s Kantara Chapter 1: ‘Want Him To Win National Award’

Kantara Chapter 1, the Rishab Shetty-starrer mythological action drama, has been receiving love from the audience, especially for its stunning visuals, powerful performances and deep connection to Indian traditions. Helmed by Shetty himself, the film was released on October 2 and has created a storm at the domestic box office, collecting more than Rs 350 crore in just 9 days.

As the film continues to win hearts, now director Atlee, known for Shah Rukh-starrer Jawan, has also expressed his admiration for the film.

Atlee Showers Praises On Kantara Chapter 1

Speaking to India Today, the filmmaker shared that he drove for two and a half hours in Amsterdam to watch Kantara Chapter 1. He said, “I was in Amsterdam when the film was released. On the first

day, I saw it in a theatre. I drove nearly two and a half hours to the theatre to see it. I immediately called Rishab, a good friend and someone I really admire.”

“After watching the film, I can say that he is a great inspiration to all filmmakers. What he has accomplished is beyond human capacity. As a director, I can tell you that such a film is extremely tough to execute. But he’s also the actor — the hero — and it’s more than just a role to play. It takes a lot of rhythm inside you to bring that out,” he added.

Adding to this, the director said, “He’s a great inspiration. Hats off! I want him to win the National Award. What he has brought to the film is unbelievable — I love him!”, pitting the actor as a strong contender for National Awards once again for his performance in the film.

More About Kantara Chapter 1

Set in the fourth century during the reign of the Kadamba dynasty, the film follows the story of the divine spirits (daivas) Panjurli and Guliga and their connection to the forest and its tribal people in pre-colonial Karnataka.

It also features Gulshan Devaiah, Jayaram and Rukmini Vasanth in significant roles.

Coming back to Atlee, he is currently busy with the shooting of his upcoming sci-fi action thriller, tentatively titled AA22XA6, featuring Allu Arjun and Deepika Padukone.
