Gaurav Khanna On Not Planning A Child With Wife Akanksha Chamola: 'It Is A Mutual Decision'

Gaurav Khanna has said that not wanting a child with wife Akanksha Chamola is their ‘mutual’ decision. In a recent interview, the Bigg Boss 19 winner clarified that he is not unhappy with their decision. He

mentioned that Akanksha is a strong woman who has all the rights to make her life choices.

“First and foremost, I want to make it clear that while it may appear to be her individual choice, it is actually a mutual and personal decision taken by both of us. Yes, she can decide that she doesn’t want to have a child, but that choice belongs equally to the two of us. So suggesting that I am unhappy while she is content makes no sense at all,” Gaurav told ETimes.

“When it comes to Akanksha, she is an extremely strong woman. In today’s time, especially in 2025, questioning a woman’s choices makes no sense. Life is about personal decisions, and we are all taught to live on our own terms. If someone chooses a certain path and their partner stands firmly by them, then there’s really nothing more to be said—miya biwi raazi toh kya karega kaazi,” he added.

For the unversed, Gaurav Khanna was in the Bigg Boss 19 house when he first revealed that while he wants a child, his wife doesn’t. Later, Akanksha also appeared on the show during the family week and clarified that they aren’t planning a baby. The actress was peaking to Malti Chahar and Pranit More when she clearly stated that she does not want a baby. She explained that being a mother is a big responsibility and something she does not think she’ll be able to handle.

“I am not planning in my head. Abhi tak toh waisa inclination nahi aaya hai, future mein bhi mujhe bahot difficult lag raha hai because I don’t know for some reason woh mere andar se nahi aaraha hai. I feel no reason to have a kid, mere bahot saare reasons hai. And mujhe aisa lagta hai jab aap itne reasons dhoondte ho, then you are not ready,” Akanksha said. “Jisko karna hota hai na, woh ye sab reasons nahi sochta,” she added.

When Malti asked if she is scared of having a baby, Akanksha explained, “I am not scared of it, I don’t think I can be that responsible. It is not so easy to have a child and raise it. It is a huge responsibility. I don’t think I can do justice to the job or duty of raising a child. At this age or at any point. I have to make my career and I have several other ambition. Ab log usko selfish bole yaa joh bhi bole.”

Gaurav Khanna and Akanksha Chamola tied the knot in November 2016.
