Indian cricket star Smriti Mandhana has given the nation a reason to cheer twice over, first by leading India to its maiden ICC Women’s World Cup title, and now with news of her upcoming wedding.
The Indian
women’s team created history by defeating South Africa in the 2025 World Cup final, clinching the country’s first-ever title in the tournament’s history. Mandhana, serving as vice-captain and opening batter, gathered 434 runs in nine matches, including three 50s and a match-winning 92 in the semi-final against Australia.
Soon after the victory, music composer and filmmaker Palash Muchhal, Mandhana’s fiance, celebrated her achievement on social media. “Am I still dreaming? This part of my life is called happiness,” he wrote, sharing a picture of Smriti holding the World Cup trophy.
According to reports, the couple is set to tie the knot on November 20 in Sangli, Maharashtra, Mandhana’s hometown.

Who is Palash Muchhal?
Born in 1995, Palash Muchhal grew up in Indore. He is a trained Indian classical singer who made his Bollywood debut as a composer for Dishkiyaoon in 2014. Since then he has composed for films like Bhoomi, Sajna Ve, Sweety Weds NRI and Tere Bin Laden: Dead or Alive, among others.
Alongside films, Palash also composes independent music and has collaborated with various other artists. Palash is currently directing his film Raju Bajewala, which stars Avika Gor and Chandan Roy in lead roles.
He is also the younger brother of Palak Muchhal, who is popular for songs like Laapataa, Jumme Ki Raat, and Meri Aashiqui, among others.

In one picture the music composer was seen holding the World Cup trophy while capturing Smriti’s joyous smile. Fans were quick to spot the tattoo on Palash’s forearm that read “SM18”, indicating Smriti’s initials and her jersey number. “Sabse aagey hai hum Hindustani (we Indians are ahead of everyone else),” he wrote as caption.
