As the world prepares to bid farewell to 2025 and usher in 2026, cities across India are buzzing with anticipation. In Bengaluru pubs, restaurants and party venues are fully booked as people get ready to celebrate. At the same time, authorities are stepping up security measures. With large crowds expected, the police have gone on high alert to prevent any untoward incidents and ensure that New Year celebrations remain safe, with special focus on women’s safety.
Areas on High Alert
The IT hub of Electronic City and its surrounding areas have received special attention from law enforcement. Police rounds have been intensified under the supervision of Electronic City DCP Narayan. Neeladri, one of the most densely populated areas, has been placed
under continuous surveillance, and additional khaki personnel have been deployed. Special squads, including the Rani Chennamma units, have been recruited to monitor PGs and women’s accommodations, reinforcing the focus on safety for female residents and visitors.
Monitoring Pubs, Bars, and Restaurants
CCTV cameras have been installed in key locations across Bengaluru, while pubs, bars, and restaurants hosting New Year events are under strict supervision. Authorities have advised establishments to follow precise rules during celebrations to avoid overcrowding or any safety lapses.
Safety Measures for Women
The police have issued clear guidelines emphasizing the safety of women. Establishments are instructed to strictly adhere to capacity limits, avoid serving beyond stipulated hours, and ensure that CCTV coverage is active throughout the event. Special attention will be given to areas where women are present, and private security personnel have been mandated to be deployed in large numbers.
Guidelines for a Safe New Year Celebration
To maintain order during the New Year celebrations on December 31, Bengaluru Police have issued 19 detailed guidelines for event organisers:
- Obtain necessary permissions from concerned departments and follow all rules.
- Adhere strictly to the New Year’s Eve timings.
- Follow prescribed noise limits; loudspeaker licenses are mandatory.
- Tickets or passes must match venue capacity; events cannot be held on ground floors, parking lots, or terraces.
- Screens must not display content visible to the public.
- Inspect attendees and inform police if suspicious objects or individuals are found.
- Fire extinguishers must be installed, and exit gates should be spacious.
- CCTV cameras must be operational at all venues, and footage should be stored for 30 days.
- Report any drug abuse immediately; violations will lead to action against the venue owner or manager.
- Public vehicles must park in designated areas.
- Any celebrities, DJs, or actors invited to events must be reported to the local police in advance.
- Deploy women security guards near parking areas and zones with female attendees.
- Security agencies and bouncers must be PSARA-registered.
- Event staff must provide valid identification.
- Alcohol cannot be served in unlicensed outdoor areas.
- Private parties in hotel rooms cannot be unrestricted.
- Disturbances must be reported to the police immediately.
- Bursting of firecrackers is strictly prohibited at all venues.

- Firecracker Ban in Bengaluru
Following a recent incident at a restaurant in Goa, Bengaluru Police have prohibited the use of firecrackers during New Year celebrations. This ban applies to all bars, restaurants, and pubs throughout the city. - Authorities have urged the public to celebrate responsibly, follow the guidelines, and prioritize safety while welcoming 2026. With proactive measures in place, Bengaluru aims to ring in the New Year with joy, cheer, and zero incidents.
