New Delhi, Jun 15 (PTI) Vice-President C P Radhakrishnan on Monday credited sages and rishis as the “true architects” of India’s unity and said kings or political institutions were not the only ones who worked for it.
He made the remarks at the release of the book “Agatthiyar — The Unifier” at an event here.
Describing Sage Agatthiyar as a symbol of India’s cultural and spiritual unity, the vice-president said the revered sage connected the traditions of North and South India and embodied the civilisational bond stretching from the Himalayas to the Indian Ocean.
According to an official statement, Radhakrishnan underlined Agatthiyar’s contributions to Tamil grammar and the Tamil Sangam tradition, and described him as a bridge between diverse cultural
streams of India.
He said India’s unity is not a modern concept but an ancient civilisational reality nurtured over thousands of years.
He emphasised that Indian languages are “sister languages” that have enriched one another through mutual respect and cultural exchange. PTI NAB RUK RUK
