Meg Lanning-led UP Warriorz are at the bottom of the WPL 2026 points table. They have lost four out of six matches played so far in the ongoing 2026 edition of the Women’s Premier League. The Uttar Pradesh-based
franchise, which defeated Mumbai Indians in their fourth and fifth league matches of WPL 2026, suffered a humiliating defeat by 45 runs against Gujarat Giants in Vadodara on Thursday (January 22).
The one-sided defeat against the Ashleigh Gardner-led side has pushed UPW to the bottom of the WPL 2026 points table.
They are, however, still alive in the race to qualify for the knockouts but can now no longer top the points table and book a place directly into the final.
For UPW to finish in the top 3 and feature in the Eliminator match at BCA Stadium in Vadodara on February 3, they have to make sure that they win their remaining two league matches against Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Delhi Capitals by big margins.
In addition to that, they also have to hope that Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals fail to win at least two of their remaining matches. In such a scenario, UPW will finish in the top three with 8 points, and DC and MI can only reach a maximum of 6 points.
UPW will finish second in the points table if they win their remaining two matches, GG lose against DC on January 27 and MI on January 30, and RCB defeat DC and MI on January 24 and 26, respectively.
In such a scenario, UPW will have 8 points to their credit, and GG, MI and DC will finish their league stage campaign with a total of 6 points each, and RCB with 14 points.
According to WPL rules, the team that tops the points table at the end of the league stage directly qualifies for the final, whereas the second- and third-placed teams face each other in the Eliminator match, and the winner of that fixture then features in the final.
In the last three editions of WPL, UP Warriorz have managed to finish in the top three only once. In 2023, they finished third in the position points but lost the Eliminator match against the Mumbai Indians. In 2024, UP Warriorz finished fourth, and in WPL 2025, they finished at the bottom of the points table.
