Ranchi, Oct 1 (PTI) Seven ‘Puja Special’ trains will be operated from Ranchi during the upcoming festival season to meet the expected surge in passenger demand, divisional railway manager (DRM) Karuna Nidhi Singh said on Thursday.
Addressing reporters here, Singh said the trains will connect Ranchi with various destinations and provide additional services during the festive period.
The Ajmer-Ranchi-Ajmer weekly Puja Special will operate from October 2 to November 27, while the Ranchi-Alipurduar-Ranchi weekly Puja Special will run from October 12 to November 9, he said.
Similarly, the Ranchi-Anand Vihar Terminal Special will commence from October 3, while the Santragachi-Ajmer-Santragachi Special will start from October 12.

Terminus-Hatia weekly Puja Special will also start from October 12, while the Hatia-Sir M Visvesvaraya, Bengaluru-Hatia weekly Puja Special will commence from October 14.
The Patna-Cherlapalli-Patna bi-weekly Special, which passes through Ranchi, has been operating since September 21, Singh said.
Singh said Ranchi railway station handled around 55,000 passengers daily during last year’s festival season and the number is expected to rise to around 75,000 per day this year.
To manage the anticipated rush, the railway authorities are taking additional measures, including opening more ticket counters, installing automatic ticket vending machines and CCTV cameras, and increasing train halts at nearby stations to ease congestion at Ranchi Junction.
