Cocktail 2 FIRST Review: Shahid Kapoor Is In 'Top Form', Rashmika Mandanna Needs To Work On Her Hindi

Cocktail 2 First Review: Shahid Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna and Kriti Sanon’s much-awaited movie is finally in theatres and early reviews suggest that the film is a ‘winner’. On Friday, trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to his X handle and shared his review of Homi Adajania’s directorial.

Adarsh mentioned that Cocktail 2 lives up to expectations and is backed by strong performances by the leading cast. He revealed that the film not only has “superb music” but also “stunning visuals and captivating writing”.

“Director Homi Adajania, who also helmed #Cocktail [2012], ensures that the sequel bears no resemblance to the original or, for that matter, to any other love story… The film captures the spirit of modern-day romance while retaining the emotional

core that made the first part so popular. Luv Ranjan and Tarun Jain’s writing is undoubtedly one of the film’s biggest strengths,” he wrote.

The trade analyst mentioned that the film’s first half, which is set in Italy, looks visually stunning. “The colours, the songs, the chemistry between the lead actors, and the unexpected twists make this portion rich – technically, visually, and emotionally,” he wrote and then added, “The drama intensifies in the second half and, barring a slightly underwhelming pre-climax stretch, the film concludes on a thoroughly satisfying note.”

Adarsh further talked about the performances by the leading cast and praised Shahid Kapoor by saying that he “is in top form… Emotionally effective and completely at ease in both dramatic and lighter moments… He simply knocks it out of the park in the penultimate sequence.”

The trade analyst also called Cocktail 2 as Kriti Sanon’s “finest performance”. However, he also mentioned that Rashmika Mandanna needs to work on her Hindi diction. He also stated that the actress did not get enough scope in the movie.

Directed by Homi Adajania, Cocktail 2 is produced by Dinesh Vijan, Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg. The screenplay has been written by Tarun Jain and Luv Ranjan. The film will hit theatres on June 19, 2026.
