For millions of fans around the world, Gilmore Girls has always been more than just a show. It’s a world full of fast-paced dialogue, quirky small-town charm, and the unforgettable bond between a mother and daughter. On the red carpet at the 2025 Emmy Awards, Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel brought that world back to life. Reuniting as Lorelai and Rory Gilmore, they reminded viewers of the late-night coffee runs, witty comebacks, and the most loved mother-daughter duo we couldn’t stop binge-watching.
Gilmore Girls reunite
Lauren Graham made a striking entrance in a black dress featuring elegant cutouts. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, she said, “It’s the incredible writing that meets you no matter what age you are, you keep rediscovering the language.
And it’s their relationship at the core, who doesn’t want to be friends with their mom and their kid?” Graham said.
Alexis Bledel complemented the reunion with a silver sequined strapless gown.

Presenting together
Later in the evening, Graham and Bledel took the stage together to present the award for Outstanding Writing in a Comedy Series. “25 years ago, a show called Gilmore Girls premiered and apparently took the season of fall hostage,” Graham joked during the presentation.

Hints of a possible reunion
While the red carpet moment is going viral, questions about a new Gilmore Girls project remain unanswered. Graham recently suggested the possibility of a Christmas special. “Given everyone’s lives and schedules, it’s a Christmas movie,” she told Armchair Expert in March. “It’s not me trying to get out of the question. It is literally what I could picture. I think [what] the Brits do so well with their beloved shows is that you get a Christmas special. It’s not episodes, but it’s seeing all your friends together again.”
Series creator Amy Sherman-Palladino also addressed the idea, confirming fan interest but noting that no official discussions are underway. “The freaking Christmas Special. I’m hearing it from everybody else!” she said. “There’s no talks right now.”
Special documentary
As the series marks its 25th anniversary, fans are set to relive that magic in a whole new way with a special documentary titled Searching For Stars Hollow, slated for release this October.
The project is being presented by Ink On Paper Studios and will feature contributions from several cast members including Kelly Bishop (Emily Gilmore), Jared Padalecki (Dean Forester), and Chad Michael Murray (Tristin Dugrey). The series originally premiered in October 2000 and went on to run for seven seasons, cementing itself as a staple of early 2000s television.
Alongside its lead stars, the documentary will showcase interviews with Keiko Agena (Lane Kim), Sally Struthers (Babette Dell), Liz Torres (Miss Patty), Emily Kuroda (Mrs. Kim), Rose Abdoo (Gypsy), Kathleen Wilhoite (Liz Danes), Matt Jones (Morgan), and Grant Lee Phillips (the town troubadour). Director Jamie Babbit, writer and producer Stan Zimmerman, casting directors Jami Rudofsky and Mara Casey, and Gilmore Guys podcast host Kevin T. Porter are also part of the lineup.
The film is being co-directed by Meghna Balakumar and Kevin Konrad Hanna, with Adam F. Goldberg serving as executive producer and Jim Demonakos producing. Balakumar revealed that filming is already well underway. “The interviews that we’ve already conducted with the cast have been a delight. We’ve shot more than 100 hours of footage and have already unearthed stories, commentary, critiques, and more. And we’re continuing to shoot more interviews in the coming months to present the most complete, full and truly new story of the show’s impact and legacy that is only possible at this historical moment,” she said.
