Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim will lead his men out against Newcastle at the fabled Old Trafford when the Toon army comes visiting for the Boxing Day fixture in the English top-flight.
Amorim touched
up on the significance of the fixture and lauded the United faithful for their unyielding support for the Red Devils as the Mancunian club seeks to restore old glory.

“It’s not a surprise that they chose this match for the 26th,” Amorim said.
“No matter what our problems are, everyone wants to see a match at Old Trafford. I’m happy to be a part of it. I know it’s a special moment,” he added.
United will be without star player Bruno Fernandes for their clash against the Magpies, as the Portuguese midfielder faces a brief period on the sidelines after sustaining a soft tissue injury during United’s 1-2 defeat to Aston Villa at Villa Park.
Seventh-placed United will also be without seven other players, including Casemiro, who is suspended, and Kobbie Mainoo, Harry Maguire, and Matthijs De Ligt, who are injured. Additionally, Noussair Mazraoui, Amad Diallo, and Bryan Mbeumo are participating in the AFCON.
Amorim has urged other players to step up amid the wave of absentees for the clash against Eddie Howe’s side, who currently stand 11th with 23 points ahead of the game at Old Trafford.
Newcastle aim to continue their strong performances against the Red Devils, seeking to add to their five wins out of the last six encounters against United.
Since their last defeat to United in the EFL League Cup Final in 2022, Newcastle have managed four wins in five meetings with United.
