Aug 29 (PTI) The East Singhbhum district administration on Saturday night sounded an alert as the water levels of the Subarnarekha and the Kharkhai rivers swelled here.
While the Kharkhai was flowing 1.32 meters above the red mark, the water level in the Subarnarekha was at 120. 24 meters against the danger level of 121.50 meters at the Mango bridge site.
The water levels of both rivers were continuously rising, a district official said.
Officials said the administration was keeping close watch on the situation and had alerted people living in catchment areas and urged them to move to safety as a precautionary measure. PTI BS NSD
