After the critically acclaimed Kill, Raghav Juyal and Lakshya have reunited on Aryan Khan’s directorial debut, The Ba***ds Of Bollywood. While the 2023 film saw them locking horns against the backdrop of gore and violence, this series themed on nepotism, power struggles and ambition in Bollywood has them playing best friends. Both Raghav and Laskhya, self-confessed Shah Rukh Khan fans, are elated to have collaborated with the superstar, but what is it about Aryan that constantly reminded them of his father?
Speaking exclusively to News18 Showsha, Raghav says, “He has a fantastic sense of humour much like Shah Rukh sir. He knows how to laugh at himself. He’s really confident about the jokes in the show.” Revealing an unknown side of Aryan, he remarks,
“Aryan bahot humble hai aur shaitaan bhi hai saath saath and this is something not a lot of people know. Only a shaitaan bachcha can make a series like The Ba***ds Of Bollywood. Jitna woh camera mein serious rehta hai, utna hi woh shaitaan hai set pe.”
He adds, “He keeps cracking jokes. And some of his jokes are very clever.” Lakshya chimes in, “I went in thinking ki kaafi serious show hoga. And that its themes would be really grim and sensitive. But to channel his angst and pain into comedy is a big skill set.” He also lauds Aryan for bringing together the much-talked about cameos and helping them channel their self-deprecating humour in the series.
“(SS) Rajamouli sir, Aamir (Khan) sir, Karan (Johar) sir and Ranveer Singh in their cameos joke on themselves. And they did that so that they can make the audience laugh. Aryan played on the clichés that people have about the film industry, actors and filmmakers. And that could happen because he really believed in the material. His raw energy and passion for filmmaking gave birth to this show that hasn’t been attempted before,” shares Lakshya.
He further adds, “The execution was a different ballgame altogether but he had the zeal to prove himself. He made it happen. He made sure it was real, fresh and entertaining.” But what Raghav will take back from The Ba***ds Of Bollywood is Aryan’s obsession with taking multiple takes. “He’s a hard taskmaster, in the sense that he’s a taker and we’re the giver (laughs). I mean that woh bahot takes leta hai,” the Gyaarah Gyaarah and Street Dancer 3D actor quips.
Raghav, however, is mighty impressed with Aryan’s directorial instincts. Heaping praises on him, he shares, “What I understood from that is that through that process, we ended up discovering and exploring a lot more within us. He had a clear vision right since day one. He knows what he wants. He also knows that he wants 25 different variations of one scene. Usually, it takes a long time for directors to find their voice but when it comes to Aryan, he knows what he’s seeking and he achieves so even if the whole world turns against him.”
