Neetu Kapoor has opened up about her arguments with Rishi Kapoor. The two tied the knot in January 1980. The latter passed away in April 2020 due to a two-year battle with leukaemia.
Recently, Neetu appeared on Soha Ali Khan’s podcast when she revealed that she and Rishi used to fight for months. The veteran actress, currently promoting her movie Daadi Ki Shaadi, mentioned that she used to stop talking to her husband and used to wait for him to approach first.
“I used to fight with him for months. My husband was very strong-minded. Whenever we had a fight, I couldn’t put myself across to him because he wouldn’t listen to me. So I would go on this cold war with him, and it could go for a month or six months. I wouldn’t bend till the time he asked
me okay what’s your problem?” she said, as quoted by Hindustan Times.
“He would message kids, spoken to mom? Is she okay? What’s happening? And then he would come to me accha kya problem hai bata yaar (tell me what’s the problem). Then he would do anything I would say. Go on a diet, lose 5-10 kgs, start exercising, he would do everything,” the actress added.
Neetu Kapoor shared that these long fights ended up becoming a joke for the rest of the family. She revealed that even her mother-in-law used to tease her, saying she and Rishi were “married only for half the time”.
Neetu Kapoor, who had taken a sabbatical from acting after featuring in Ranbir Kapoor’s Besharam, made her comeback on the big screen in Raj Mehta’s Jugjugg Jeeyo in 2022. The veteran diva shared the screen space with Varun Dhawan, Kiara Advani and Anil Kapoor in the family comedy-drama.
In addition to this, she also joined the judging panel of the dance reality TV show Dance Deewane Juniors alongside Nora Fatehi and Marzi Pestonji.
Her latest movie, Daadi Ki Shaadi, released on May 8. The film also stars Kapil Sharma in the lead and marks the acting debut of Neetu’s daughter, Riddhima Kapoor.
