Ranbir Kapoor Is 'Pure At Heart', Has No Filters: Ramayana Co-Star Ajinkya Deo

Ranbir Kapoor is one actor about whom all his co-stars have this to say: he is extremely grounded, humble and hard working. Actor Ajinkya Deo, who will soon be seen with Ranbir in Ramayana, is no exception.

Ajinkya will play Sage Vishwamitra, Lord Rama’s mentor, in Ramayana: Part 1. In a recent chat with Varinder Chawla, he reflected on his time with Ranbir on set.

Ajinkya shared, “RK made me feel so comfortable. He used to be… You know what, about him also, he used to say, ‘Sir, beautiful shot yaar. I mean, I loved it yaar.’ When somebody gives you that, like he’s like, ‘Sir, aap lagte nahi ho yaar, where do you work out and all?’”

The actor recalled, “I said ‘Boss, thank you, thank you, RK. Look at you and look at me.’ He said, ‘No sir, aapki age tak pata nahi mera kya hone waala hai.’ So I said, ‘That’s another story of life.’ But he was so, you know… very, very pure at heart. No 3,4,5 filters in between.”

“He (Ranbir) is what he is. And that’s what makes him a very… You know all these things work very well onscreen also. There is an immediate direct connect with the audiences. The moment you have these screens in between, which earlier stars had. But then that was the way it was then. But today, it’s no filter yaar,” he mentioned.

Ramayana, which is being directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra, is shaping up to be a massive two-part retelling of the classic Indian epic. The cast is star-studded. Ranbir Kapoor takes on Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi plays Sita, Yash is Ravana, Ravi Dubey becomes Lakshman, and Sunny Deol portrays Hanuman. Supporting cast includes Amitabh Bachchan, Rakul Preet Singh, Kunal Kapoor, Lara Dutta, Arun Govil and Sheeba Chadha.

The first part is expected to hit cinemas during Diwali 2026, with the second part set to follow the next year in Diwali 2027. The project promises a big-screen experience blending traditional storytelling with modern cinematic flair.
