‘Salman Ki Behen Tere Saath Kya Kar Rahi Hai?’: Aayush Sharma Recalls Father’s Reaction To Arpita Khan Marriage

Aayush Sharma and Arpita Khan Sharma may be one of Bollywood’s most talked-about couples today, but their love story was far from straightforward. While Salman Khan stood firmly in their corner, it was Aayush’s own family that initially struggled to come to terms with the relationship.

A Meeting That Changed Everything

In a recent conversation, Aayush recalled how his first meeting with Salman Khan unexpectedly fast-tracked his relationship into marriage.

Once Salman learned about the relationship, he invited Aayush over for a conversation. During the meeting, he directly asked about their plans, and Arpita revealed that they intended to get married within a year.

Aayush admitted that even he was caught off guard. “I didn’t know myself, how could

I have told my parents? I just walked in, said hi, was asked if I will marry her and I said yes. I walked out knowing that I am getting married in a year. I had no idea where life had taken me,” he said.

At that point, his parents were still completely unaware of the relationship, leaving him with the daunting task of breaking the news.

‘What Did They See In Me?’

Looking back, Aayush confessed that he often questioned why Arpita’s family was so accepting of him, especially given his financial situation at the time.

“I wasn’t making any money. I always wondered what they were thinking. In films, the boy is always asked what he earns. Who gets their daughter or sister married to someone like me?” he shared, adding that while he came from a respected family, he had yet to establish himself in Mumbai.

A Tough Conversation At Home

The real challenge came when Aayush introduced Arpita to his own family. His parents were visibly taken aback.

“My mom asked if she was Salman’s sister. I told my dad she was my girlfriend. He said, ‘Uski behen tere saath kya kar rahi hai?’ and then I told him we are getting married. He was shocked,” Aayush recalled.

His father, in particular, struggled to process the decision. Questioning his son’s sudden shift from studies to acting to marriage, he remained sceptical about the entire situation.

Doubts Over Financial Stability

Aayush revealed that his father was also concerned about whether he had been completely honest with Arpita’s family about his financial standing.

“He thought I might have made false promises. He even wanted to go and tell them that I don’t do anything,” Aayush said.

During the families’ meeting, his father did not hold back. He openly hinted at Aayush’s lack of income, even telling them that he earned only a modest amount and had been supported by the family.

Salman Khan’s Vote Of Confidence

Despite the doubts, Salman Khan remained confident in Aayush’s potential.

“He said he knows everything and that he believes I have potential. He said he would train me,” Aayush shared.

While his father remained unconvinced initially, Aayush said he respected his honesty. “He told me after my first film that I don’t know how to act. There was nothing special. But he appreciated me after my second film,” he added.

From Doubt To Family

Arpita, who was adopted into the Khan family as an infant, shares a close bond with Salman Khan. Over time, both families came around, and Aayush and Arpita tied the knot on November 18, 2014.

Today, the couple are parents to two children, Ahil and Ayat, and their story stands as a reminder that even the most unconventional beginnings can find their way to acceptance.
