Arunachal Guv pays tribute to Kargil heroes ahead of Vijay Diwas

Itanagar, Jul 25 (PTI) Ahead of the 27th anniversary of Operation Vijay, Arunachal Pradesh Governor K T Parnaik on Saturday paid rich tributes to the armed forces personnel who made supreme sacrifices during the Kargil conflict, saying their courage “continues to inspire generations”.

In 1999, Indian warriors braved snow-clad peaks and relentless enemy fire during the nearly three-month-long conflict with Pakistan, before the Indian forces reclaimed the heights of Kargil with unmatched courage and unwavering resolve.

In a message ahead of Vijay Diwas, the governor said the day commemorates India’s victory in the 1999 Kargil War, fought over 83 arduous days on some of the world’s highest and most challenging battlefields.

Facing extreme weather,

steep terrain, and hostile conditions, Indian soldiers fought with unmatched bravery, determination, and professionalism, he noted.

“Their victory was not merely a military triumph; it was a testament to the resilience, unity, and spirit of India. The courage displayed by the Kargil Heroes continues to inspire generations of Indians to place the nation above all else,” Parnaik said.

Joining the citizens in honouring the war veterans and martyrs, the governor urged people to uphold the values of patriotism, national unity, duty, and sacrifice to build a strong, secure, and prosperous nation. PTI COR NSD
