Hyderabad experienced heavy rainfall on September 17, causing traffic jams, flash floods and severe waterlogging across the city. Many low-lying areas were submerged, making it extremely difficult for commuters to reach home. Amid the chaos, food delivery riders unexpectedly stepped in to help stranded residents.
One man shared his personal experience on X (formerly Twitter), recalling how he and his bike were saved from being swept away in waist-deep water by Zomato and Swiggy delivery personnel. His post also included a short video that showed delivery riders pulling a two-wheeler to safety while standing in the flooded street.
What The Rescued Man Said
In his post, the man wrote, “Hey Zomato, Swiggy, just wanted to share that your riders not
only delivered food during this deluge, but also saved me and my bike from being swept away in the stormwater. They did the same for hundreds of people like me trying to reach home at midnight in Hyderabad.”
