Get ready for a goosebumps moment at Rajpath next year. The Republic Day Parade 2026 is shaping up to be extra special, with Oscar-winning composer M.M. Keeravaani taking charge of a landmark musical tribute to mark 150 years of Vande Mataram.
Keeravaani has been chosen to compose the music for the Republic Day Parade on January 26, 2026, commemorating the 150th anniversary of the iconic national song. The presentation will be mounted under the Ministry of Culture and performed by a massive ensemble of 2,500 artists drawn from across the country.
The celebrated composer confirmed the development himself through a heartfelt post on X, originally written in Hindi, where he expressed gratitude for the honour. He wrote, “Dear Colleagues, Vande Mataram!
On the auspicious occasion of the 150th anniversary of the song ‘Vande Mataram’, I have been fortunate to receive the privilege of composing the music for the Republic Day Parade on 26 January under the Ministry of Culture. This grand presentation will be performed by 2500 artists from across the country. Stay connected to witness this historic moment. Let us celebrate the festival of Vande Mataram! — M. M. Keeravaani.”
The large-scale musical segment is expected to be one of the highlights of the parade, paying tribute to Vande Mataram, a song that played a crucial role during India’s freedom movement. With thousands of performers and Keeravaani’s creative vision at the centre, the performance is anticipated to blend classical richness, cultural diversity and strong patriotic emotion on one of the nation’s most important ceremonial platforms.
Beyond the Republic Day assignment, Keeravaani continues to remain active on the film front. He is currently working on Varanasi, for which the song Globetrotter has already been released. The track features vocals by Shruti Haasan and Kaala Bhairava, with lyrics by Chaitanya Prasad, and has been noted for its emotional depth and musical texture.
Keeravaani’s international profile soared after he won both the Oscar and the Golden Globe for Best Original Song for Naatu Naatu from S.S. Rajamouli’s RRR. The film starred Ram Charan and Jr NTR, alongside Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn. Long before global recognition, however, the composer had already established himself as a towering figure in Indian cinema, known as Swaravaani Keeravaani in Tollywood, Marakathamani in Kollywood, and M.M. Kreem in Bollywood.
