Peter Dinklage, who stars as Mitch in the upcoming film Roofman, has opened up about his experience working with co-stars Kirsten Dunst and Channing Tatum. Speaking exclusively to News18 Showsha, the actor reflected on the creative energy on set and praised both actors for their talent, generosity, and presence.
Roofman is set to premiere exclusively on Lionsgate Play on December 19.
“It Was Such An Honor”: Dinklage on Kirsten Dunst
Calling Kirsten Dunst one of his favourite actors, Dinklage spoke about his long-standing admiration for her work and the joy of finally collaborating with her, “Kristen’s always been one of my favorite actresses. The choices she makes are just incredible. I’ve been such a huge fan. It was such an honor to work with her, finally.”
Dinklage highlighted Dunst’s instinctive approach to roles, noting how her performances are consistently driven by strong, thoughtful decisions. For him, sharing the screen with her felt both creatively fulfilling and personally rewarding.
“An Open Heart”: Praise For Channing Tatum’s Physicality And Grace
Dinklage also had glowing words for Channing Tatum, praising not just his acting but the physical awareness he brings to his performances, “Channing, he was just an extraordinary actor. He has such a grace to him. And I find that being a dancer, that physicality is already in place, and it behooves the acting side of it so much.”
He went on to explain how movement and physical expression play a crucial role in storytelling, especially in visually driven scenes, “Because so much of what we do visually, physically, romantically, is with the body. And Channing just knows how to do that so well. And with grace.”
Beyond technique, Dinklage also emphasised Tatum’s emotional openness, “He’s just like sort of an open heart. He’s an open-hearted person. And funny, too.”
About Roofman: What To Expect From The Film
Roofman is a genre-bending drama that blends emotional intensity with moments of dark humour and intimacy. The film explores human connection, vulnerability, and the quiet spaces between people who are emotionally guarded yet deeply yearning.
Peter Dinklage plays Mitch, a complex character navigating fractured relationships and personal reckoning. Kirsten Dunst and Channing Tatum round out the central cast, bringing contrasting energies that shape the film’s emotional core.
Backed by Lionsgate, Roofman has been generating buzz for its performance-driven storytelling and nuanced character work rather than spectacle. With a focus on subtle emotions, body language, and internal conflict, the film leans heavily on its actors — something Dinklage’s comments strongly underline.
Roofman premieres December 19, streaming exclusively on Lionsgate Play.
