Amaravati, Sep 28 (PTI) Andhra Pradesh Roads and Buildings Minister B C Janardhan Reddy on Monday said over 2,400-km long roadways were damaged in the recent torrential downpour, which would require nearly Rs 1,500 crore to repair.
Among the districts, the minister noted that Srikakulam witnessed the highest road damage, 412 km.
“Due to the deep depression, 2,405-km long R&B roads were damaged,” Reddy said in an official release, adding that temporary repairs will cost Rs 162 crore and permanent repairs Rs 1,337 crore, totalling around Rs 1,500 crore.
Further, the minister observed that roads were eroded at 36 places and cut off at nine more places across the state, prompting the R&B Department to immediately take up restoration works to avoid
