Star Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah is not playing for Mumbai Indians in their 14th and last league match of the ongoing IPL 2026 season. According to MI skipper Hardik Pandya, Bumrah has been rested for the IPL 2026 match against Rajasthan Royals at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday (May 24).

“Jassi is resting and Deepak is in,” Pandya said after winning the toss and opting to field.
Bumrah, who is MI’s highest wicket-taker in IPL history, had a very ordinary IPL 2026 season. He played 13 matches for the five-time champions but was only able to take 4 wickets in 13 matches.
In Bumrah’s place, Shardul Thakur is back in MI’s playing XI. Thakur was dropped from MI’s playing XI against Kolkata
Knight Riders on Wednesday despite taking four wickets in Mumbai’s 12th league match against Punjab Kings in Dharamsala on May 14.
Rohit Sharma, who is MI’s highest run getter in IPL history, is among the impact subs, and he is all set to open the innings for the hosts in the second half of the match.
Rajasthan Royals, on the other hand, have made three changes to their playing XI. Riyan Parag is back in RR’s XI and is leading them as well. In addition to him, Ravindra Jadeja and Nandre Burger are also playing for the Men in Pink in their must-win match. They have replaced Lhuan-dre Pretorius, Sushant Mishra, and Sandeep Sharma.

Do-or-die game for Royals
The ongoing IPL 2026 match against the Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium is a do-or-die game for the Royals. If RR defeat the Mumbai Indians, then they will finish fourth in the IPL 2026 points table and qualify for the playoffs, whereas a loss will knock them out.
