Chandigarh, Jun 20 (PTI) Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday said the state government will launch an Artificial Intelligence Sandbox and establish its own AI state data centre.
This would be done as part of the Haryana AI Development Programme, which has an investment of Rs 474 crore, according to a statement.
An AI Sandbox is an isolated environment to test AI models without security and privacy risks.
Reviewing the progress of the Haryana Clean Air Project and Haryana AI Development Project, Saini said the two initiatives aim to improve public services and strengthen digital and environmental infrastructure in the state.
A state AI data centre will be set up in Panchkula, while the Global Artificial Intelligence Centre (GAIC)
will be established in Gurugram. Haryana will also develop a Haryana data exchange and a state data lake platform to improve service delivery and data management, the chief minister said.
A Haryana Data Exchange Policy will also be introduced soon, he added.
Saini said two Centres of Excellence would be established at a cost of Rs 40 crore to provide skill-based courses and industry-oriented workshops.
An AI gurukul will also be launched to impart AI education to children and enhance their employability.
He said the government will constitute an Arjun Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for project implementation and hold review meetings every three months to ensure timely completion of projects.
Rs 3,647 crore will be spent under the Haryana Clean Air Project, which will be implemented jointly by nine departments, including the Haryana State Pollution Control Board, Transport Department, Industries and Commerce Department, Urban Local Bodies Department, and Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department, Saini said.
As part of the project, 500 electric buses will be introduced in Gurugram, Faridabad, Sonipat and Jhajjar. Around 200 charging stations will also be set up, with incentives provided for their establishment.
The government will also offer incentives for the purchase of new electric three-wheelers and replacement of old vehicles.
Industries will be encouraged to use cleaner diesel generator sets, while incentives will be provided for installing Continuous Emission Monitoring System (CEMS) devices.
Saini said steps will also be taken to strengthen dust and waste management systems in urban areas, reduce stubble-burning incidents, promote research on bio-decomposers and enhance laboratory infrastructure.
Two mobile air-quality monitoring vans will be deployed across the state to measure Air Quality Index (AQI) levels in different regions, he added.
Senior officials, including Chief Principal Secretary to the CM Rajesh Khullar, Principal Secretary Arun Gupta and other officers, attended the review meeting. PTI VSD SKY SKY
