Legendary Indian cricketer Harmanpreet Kaur entered her name in the history books on Sunday (June 21) by becoming the first Indian and only the second cricketer overall to captain in 200 women’s international matches across formats.
The ongoing ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 match between India and South Africa at Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Manchester is Harmanpreet’s 200th international match as captain of the Indian women’s cricket team.
She has captained the 2025 ODI World Cup-winning side in four Tests, 51 ODIs and 145* T20Is.
Only former England cricketer Charlotte Edwards has led a team in more women’s international matches. Edwards captained England in a total of 220 matches (10 Tests, 117 ODIs and 93 T20Is) from 2005 to 2016.

The ongoing India vs South Africa match in Manchester is also Harmanpreet’s 200th T20I appearance for India. She is the first and only cricketer in the world to play 200 T20I matches. No other player, including those in men’s cricket, has played 200 T20Is.

In her 200th T20I match for the Indian women’s cricket team, Harmanpreet batted at No. 5 but could only manage 24 runs from 22 balls. She struck two fours during her stay at the crease before being dismissed by Shabnim Ismail in the 15th over of India’s innings. On the fourth ball of the over, Ismail breached Harmanpreet’s defence to send her back to the pavilion.
She was the fifth Indian batter to be dismissed on Sunday, and after her wicket, India could add only 42 runs to their total in the remaining 5.2 overs.
