Chandigarh, Jul 19 (PTI) Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Sunday paid tributes to one of the great revolutionaries, Mangal Pandey, on his birth anniversary, saying that his sacrifice and dedication will forever remain an inspiration for patriots.
“His indomitable courage, unwavering patriotism, and supreme sacrifice ignited such a flame of freedom in the hearts of the countrymen, a flame that eventually evolved into the monumental movement for independence, Saini said in a post on X in Hindi.
Union Minister of State and Gurugram MP Rao Inderjit Singh also paid rich tributes to the Indian revolutionary.
In a post on X, Singh said Mangal Pandey’s invaluable contribution to the motherland will forever inspire the nation with the spirit
of patriotism, courage, and self-respect.
A soldier in the Bengal army of the East India Company, Pandey became the face of Indian soldiers’ rebellion against British rule in 1857 in what came to be described by many historians as India’s ‘first war of independence’.
Born in Uttar Pradesh in 1827, he was executed by the British in 1857. PTI SUN KSI KSI
