Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj, who has consolidated his place in the Indian side, revealed the reasons he wasn’t included in the ICC Champions Trophy and the Asia Cup squads.
Siraj, who starred with the ball
in India’s tour of England as the visitors clawed their way back to a draw against the hosts in dramatic fashion riding on Siraj’s brilliance, expressed confidence in performing for the national tricolor across formats when called up.
Siraj revealed that former Indian skipper Rohit Sharma explained the rationale behind dropping him for the ICC CT as the captain preferred to utilize spin as his choice of weapon for the event which was held in the UAE.

“We played the Champions Trophy in Dubai, there was heat, and we needed more spinners there, that’s why I wasn’t picked,” the seamer said.

“He told me to spend time with family, practise and work on my fitness,” Siraj added.
