In the latest episode of the Salman Khan-hosted reality show, some viewers felt that a statement made by the six-time world champion came across as dismissive of other athletes while highlighting her own accomplishments.

During a conversation with Mary Kom, Qazi Touqeer spoke about Indian women athletes who have made a mark in sports. He mentioned Sania Mirza and Saina Nehwal as examples, saying, “Hamare yaha sports mein kon kon ladki ne kamal kiya hai, Sania Mirza also did great, Sania Nehwal…” Mary then
interrupted him and said, “Lekin mere jaisa koi achieve nahi kiya.” She went on to highlight her own record, pointing out that she is a six-time World Champion.

The remark did not go unnoticed online, with social media users debating Mary’s response to Qazi’s mention of other accomplished Indian women athletes. Some felt her statement unnecessarily pitted her record against the achievements of her fellow sportspersons. One user commented, “Qazi is praising the female athletes & then Mary Kom aunty is being alty!!! Bhai whats wrong in praising others without demeaning? They are not even from your sports which you do take part! Ridiculous!” Another user called her “salty.” A third user wrote, “Mary Kom disregarding other players & calling herself the greatest came across as narcissistic.” One of the comments also read, “I respect Mary Kom whatever she achieved in her life but bohat ghamandi and full of herself hai.”
Another user wrote, “Why does Mary Kom keep shading other athletes man? Her best was bronze in olympics, while PV Sindhu and Mirabai Chanu are silver Medalists. I respect her for the glory she brought for our country but why put others down?”
