A Delhi-bound IndiGo flight made an emergency landing in Goa on Tuesday after one of its engines reportedly failed mid-air.
As per sources, the IndiGo flight 6E 2102 took off from Goa’s Manohar International Airport at around 9:16 am with 220 people on board. Shortly after departure, the aircraft reported a technical issue involving one of its engines, prompting Air Traffic Control (ATC) to declare a full emergency.
Air Traffic Control declared a “full emergency” at around 9:28 am as the aircraft was routed back to the airport for a safe landing.
The aircraft landed safely on Runway 28 at 9:51 am and was parked at Stand 6. The full emergency was terminated at around 10:03 am.
All passengers disembarked safely and were accommodated in the boarding
area.
Data from aviation tracker Flightradar24 showed the aircraft turning back towards Goa after flying over the coast of southern Maharashtra. The aircraft was reportedly at an altitude of around 14,000 feet when it began its return.
The flight, which was scheduled to reach Delhi at around 11:45 am, has now been rescheduled for 3:30 pm, subject to aircraft clearance and operational requirements.
Earlier on August 12, an IndiGo flight operating from Kolkata to Chennai declared a full emergency shortly before landing at Chennai airport after the aircraft’s left engine failed. The aircraft was carrying 224 people.
