We often talk about how politicians in India now lead lavish lifestyles with expensive cars and convoys. Yet, some still prefer a simple lifestyle while serving the public. Antonio Vaz, an independent
MLA from Cortalim in Goa, is one such politician. He had gained attention after arriving at the Goa Assembly Complex for his swearing-in ceremony on a TVS NTorq scooter. His modest choice of vehicle was widely appreciated by locals and online users.
Recently, a video surfaced showing that Antonio Vaz has upgraded his ride. Instead of his humble scooter, he is now seen at a Hyundai dealership, purchasing a brand-new car for himself and his family. The video, shared on Instagram, shows him being welcomed warmly by the dealership staff as they complete the paperwork.

The Car MLA Antonio Vaz Bought
Antonio Vaz didn’t just buy any car. He opted for the Hyundai Creta King Edition, a special variant launched to celebrate 10 years of the model in India.
In the video, his family is seen assisting with the paperwork, and once the formalities were completed, the staff handed over the keys. The family then moved to the delivery area to unveil the SUV and cut a small celebratory cake with the dealership team.
The King Edition Creta is based on the SX (O) variant and comes in a matte black shade with “King” stickers on the tailgate. It offers features like powered driver and passenger seats with memory function, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay (via an adapter), dashcams, dual-zone climate control, and more.
Mechanically, it offers a choice between a 1.5-litre NA petrol, 1.5-litre turbo petrol, and a 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine, with manual, automatic, IVT, or DCT gearbox options depending on the variant. Prices start at Rs 17.89 lakh and go up to Rs 20.61 lakh (ex-showroom).
Here’s How Social Media Reacted
The video drew reactions from viewers, many criticising the politician for upgrading to an expensive car.
A user wrote, “Finally, could see him after 3 yrs…” while another commented, “Was he the one who came with an Activa at his first assembly in parliament? This shows the power of being an MLA.”
