Kriti Sanon has reacted to the discussion around her Rakshabandhan advertisement with a new social media post featuring her sister Nupur Sanon. The actress shared a picture from their Rakhi celebration and referenced the conversation around her festive outfit by joking about the “Rakhi fashion committee.”
The post comes after Kriti faced criticism over the outfit she wore in the advertisement. She had earlier addressed the debate by saying that the meaning of a festival lies in its traditions and emotions rather than the clothes one chooses to wear.
Kriti Sanon Shares Rakhi Post With Nupur
Kriti took to social media to share a picture of her and Nupur’s hands tied together with rakhis. Along with the photo, she wrote, “While the Rakhi fashion
committee is still in session 🙈 We’re focusing on what really matters. ❤️👭 Happy Rakhi to all ❤️”.
Her reference to the “Rakhi fashion committee” comes amid the ongoing discussion around her appearance in a Rakshabandhan advertisement.
For the campaign, Kriti was dressed in an off-white ensemble featuring a bralette-style blouse, a cape and a draped skirt. Her look received criticism from a section of social media users, who questioned the choice of outfit for an advertisement centred on the festival.
Kriti Sanon Had Earlier Addressed The Criticism
Kriti had previously shared her views on the discussion around women, fashion and cultural traditions after reactions to the advertisement surfaced.
“The essence of festivals is not in the clothes you wear, it is in the emotions and meaning you hold for the traditions,” the actress said.
Her latest post features her celebrating Rakshabandhan with Nupur while the discussion around the campaign continues online.
Kriti’s Rakshabandhan Ad Also Faced Criticism Over Pet Sequence
Apart from Kriti’s outfit, another portion of the advertisement also attracted reactions on social media. In the video, Kriti is seen tying a rakhi to a dog after it barks.
The sequence was presented as part of the Rakshabandhan celebration involving the pet. However, some social media users objected to the scene and accused the brand of mocking Indian festivals.
The criticism surrounding the advertisement subsequently included both Kriti’s clothes and the sequence featuring the dog.
Kriti has not directly addressed the criticism over the pet sequence in her latest post. Her new update is centred on her Rakshabandhan celebration with Nupur and includes the brief reference to the discussion around fashion.
Kriti and Nupur have often featured together on each other’s social media accounts. For Rakshabandhan, the sisters marked the occasion by tying rakhis to each other, with Kriti captioning their picture, “We’re focusing on what really matters.”
