Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan’s Karan Arjun is one of the most loved films, and people still recall it for its story and the camaraderie between the two actors. Recently, in an interview, choreographer Chinni Prakash spoke about an incident that unfolded on the sets of Karan Arjun when Shah Rukh Khan and Salman came to the rescue of girls after some boys tried to misbehave with them.
Recalling the shoot of the song Bhangra Pale, Chinni, while speaking to Friday Talkies, shared, “It was an iconic song because both the heroes were dancing together, and they both were upcoming superstars. Salman was very close to me because I did his second film. Shah Rukh was not close to us. He was a little away.”
“During the shoot, one of the villagers started
teasing the girls on the set. Salman got very angry. Shah Rukh picked up lathis and started beating them. A big fight started. Then Salman, I, and Shah Rukh took the girls in a van and drove them to the hotel,” he further continued.
Chinni also spoke about the drinking culture on the set and shared, “We all used to stay in a guest house, and we used to do rehearsals on the rooftop of the guest house. Rakesh Roshan (director of the film) made sure that everybody came to rehearsals daily. Both would (show a sign of drinking) before coming to rehearsals, and rehearsals would go on until early morning because both things would go together.”
Karan Arjun was released in theatres on January 13, 1995, and became a huge box-office success. While Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan later appeared in other films together, they were never seen again as the main leads.
Shah Rukh to follow Mannat ritual
After returning to the city, Shah Rukh Khan was seen reaching Bandra, where a lot of fans had gathered outside his residence, Mannat, waiting for him to come and wave at them. Preparations have been revved up outside Mannat. Work crews were seen cleaning the balcony near the gate, where SRK famously greets crowds. Renovation is still ongoing inside his home, but that isn’t stopping the tradition. There is a strong buzz that after meeting fans in Bandra, he will head back to Mannat for what has now become a yearly ritual.
