‘We Made History’: Kalyani Priyadarshan Reacts To Lokah Chapter 1 Crossing Rs 300 Crore At Box Office

Kalyani Priyadarshan starrer ‘Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra’ has created history as the film crossed the Rs 300 crore mark at the global box office- the first-ever Malayalam film to do so. The superhero movie, directed by Dominic Arun, has emerged as a blockbuster, and the actress couldn’t be happier! Kalyani Priyadarshan has reacted to the film’s massive success, and penned a special note as it crossed the Rs 300 crore mark. She wrote that she is ‘beyond grateful’ to her team, as well as fans who watched the movie in theatres.

Kalyani Priyadarshan Celebrates As Lokah Chapter 1 Crosses Rs 300 Crore Mark

Kalyani Priyadarshan took to her Instagram stories to express her joy over Lokah Chapter 1 crossing the Rs 300 crore mark worldwide. She shared a poster of the film with ‘300 crore GBOC’ written in huge letters. In her message,

the actress wrote, “Everyone who stood behind, beside and in front of the camera, and everyone who filled the theatres… We made history. Beyond grateful.”

About Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra

Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra is a Malayalam-language superhero movie, directed by Dominic Arun and produced by Dulquer Salmaan under his banner Wayfarer Films. Apart from Kalyani Priyadarshan, the film also stars Naslen, Sandy Master, Arun Kurian and Chandu Salim Kumar. In the film, Kalyani stars as Chandra, a mysterious woman who arrives in Bangalore, India and gets entangled with a gang involved in organ trafficking.

Released on August 28 during the festive Onam season, Lokah opened to glowing reviews and strong word of mouth. What began as a promising regional release soon turned into a nationwide craze, pulling audiences from across India and overseas.

Lokah, which became the first Malayalam film to cross the Rs 300 crore mark, surpassed the collections of Prithviraj Sukumaran’s L2: Empuraan (Rs 265.5 crore), Soubin Shahir and Sreenath Bhasi’s Manjummel Boys (Rs 240 crore), and Mohanlal and Prakash Varma’s Thudarum (Rs 234.5 crore).

Lokah: Chapter 2 Announced

Meanwhile, last month, the makers finally announced the film’s sequel- ‘Lokah Chapter 2’ starring Tovino Thomas and Dulquer Salmaan, who is also the producer of the Malayalam superhero film. Dulquer Salmaan shared an intriguing poster and a three-minute long promo video featuring Tovino as Michael/Chathan and Dulquer as Charlie/Odiyan, titled ‘When Legends Chill’.
