Fresh off the roaring success of Dhurandhar, Ranveer Singh appears to be gearing up for another ambitious project. According to the latest buzz, the actor has been approached by acclaimed filmmaker Shankar for his much-anticipated historical epic Velpari, sparking excitement among fans across industries.
Ranveer’s spy thriller Dhurandhar, directed by Aditya Dhar, has emerged as one of the biggest successes of recent times. Released theatrically on December 5, 2025, the film stormed past the Rs 500 crore mark within three weeks and has since crossed an impressive Rs 1,100 crore globally. Following its theatrical dominance, the film has also taken over the OTT space, currently ranking among Netflix’s top binge-worthy titles.
Ranveer Singh X Shankar In Velpari?
As per a Mid-Day report,
Ranveer Singh is in discussions to collaborate with Shankar on Velpari. While an official announcement is still awaited, the project is reportedly envisioned as a grand two-hero film. Alongside Ranveer, Tamil cinema star Vikram is said to be headlining the ambitious venture.
Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Ranveer and Shankar have been linked. The duo were earlier rumoured to be collaborating on Anniyan in 2021, a project that never materialised and left fans disappointed. If Velpari moves forward, it would finally mark their first collaboration.
Velpari is based on the acclaimed Tamil historical fiction novel Veera Yuga Nayagan Velpari by author Su. Venkatesan. The story revolves around the legendary chieftain Velpari and is deeply rooted in Tamil history and folklore. An on-screen adaptation has long been awaited by readers and cinema enthusiasts, making the project one of Shankar’s most anticipated films.
Dhurandhar Continues Its Winning Streak
Meanwhile, Dhurandhar continues to enjoy a phenomenal run even after its OTT release. The film stars Ranveer Singh alongside Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Aditya, and Arjun Rampal. It has been widely praised for its gripping narrative, slick action sequences, and Ranveer’s intense portrayal of an Indian spy.
However, the film has also courted controversy, with sections of the audience criticising its political undertones and labelling it as propaganda. Despite the debates, the numbers tell a different story, with Dhurandhar outperforming recent blockbusters like Pathaan, Jawan, and Chhaava.
The makers have already confirmed that Dhurandhar 2 will hit theatres on March 19, 2026, keeping Ranveer Singh firmly in the spotlight as anticipation around his next moves continues to build.
