In a hilarious X post, Iceland Cricket said that they would be unavailable to replace Pakistan in the T20 World Cup, since the time left to prepare for the marquee event is very less, adding that they are not like Scotland, who can just turn up on a whim.
Scotland went on to replace Bangladesh in the T20 World Cup, after the latter pulled out of the tournament citing security issues in India.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Cricket Board has said that they are contemplating not taking part in the T20 World Cup, to reportedly support Bangladesh’s stance, a stand that has been severely trolled worldwide.
While Iceland Cricket had earlier suggested that they could replace Pakistan if they decided to withdraw, they refused the same on Thursday.
“Dear @ICC,
It is with a heavy heart that we now announce our unavailability to replace Pakistan in the upcoming T20 World Cup. Regardless of whether they now withdraw, the short timescales ensure our squad can’t prepare in the professional manner necessary to compete effectively in this global cricketing spectacle,” Iceland Cricket tweeted on Thursday.

The X handle, known for its hilarious posts, also went on to say that its players, who are not professionals, cannot leave their land to travel halfway across the world to a place where temperatures are similar to Finnish saunas.
Temperatures are expected to be around 23 degrees Celsius or even more in India by the time the T20 World Cup begins on Saturday, February 7.
The X handle also mentioned that it’s the 14th-most followed cricket board across the world, boasting a whopping 155.2k followers.
In case Pakistan withdraw from the tournament, Uganda will replace them and Iceland said that their loss would be Uganda’s gain, adding that no one would be able to ignore them thanks to their flashy jersey.
Notably, Iceland are not a member country of the International Cricket Council.
