A video of a teacher teaching his students in a creative way has caught the internet’s attention. During a class on democracy and the election process, the teacher did not ask the students to open books;
instead, organised a mock election inside his classroom, giving students a hands-on experience of how voting works.
The activity included every step of an actual election. Students took part in voter registration, campaigning, polling, and vote counting. They even designed campaign slogans, turning the classroom into a lively political arena.
The video, shared on Instagram by a user named ‘Masterji’, shows how he carefully planned the entire process.
“Today, I taught children how democracy functions in a country by holding an election in the class. I was teaching them the chapter ‘Government and Democracy’. I fielded four candidates for this activity, assigned them party symbols, and gave them four days for campaigning,” he explained.
To make it realistic, two students acted as presiding officers, while class monitors were made police officers to ensure fair polling. A small polling booth was also set up, and students voted by showing ID cards and getting their fingers inked.
At the end of the activity, the winner turned out to be a student with the slogan, “Samosa dabao, Somesh jitao.” The teacher added, “The winning candidate had to treat us all to samosas.”
