Shimla, Jun 10 (PTI) The Himachal Pradesh Government on Wednesday withdrew the deferment of salaries of the deputy chief minister, members of the council of ministers, speaker, and deputy speaker of the Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha and legislatures.
“Himachal Pradesh Governor, in exercise of the powers conferred by Article 162 read with Article 166 of the Constitution of India, is pleased to withdraw the deferment of salary of the deputy chief minister, cabinet ministers, speaker, deputy speaker, and MLAs,” a notification issued here said.
The deferred amount shall be paid along with the salary of June 2026, payable in July 2026, the notification stated, adding that the temporary deferment of 50 per cent salary in respect of the chief minister
shall continue till further orders.
Presenting the budget for the financial year 2026-27, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, on March 21, announced deferment in the salaries of the chief minister, ministers, MLAs and officers. The decision was taken due to an acute financial crunch.
Fifty per cent of the salary of the chief minister, 30 per cent of cabinet ministers and 20 per cent of Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) were deferred for six months.
The deferment amount will be calculated on the net salary after payment of tax, National Pension System (NPS), Unified Pension Scheme (UPS), General Provident Fund (GPF) and other fixed deductions, he had said. PTI BPL MPL MPL
