Big-screen spectacles often take their own time to come together and sometimes, the wait is part of the excitement. For fans of Kartik Aaryan, the next couple of years are shaping up to be especially interesting.
The actor’s upcoming film Captain India has now secured a theatrical release during the Independence Day weekend in 2027. Backed by T-Series and Baweja Studios, the project is expected to go on floors in June 2026.

drama.
While the film’s timeline is now clearer, Kartik Aaryan’s schedule remains packed with multiple projects in different stages of production. Among them is an untitled romantic drama that first drew attention after its teaser dropped in February last year. Initially slated for a December 2025 release, the film’s timeline has since been pushed, and it is now expected to arrive in theatres either towards the end of 2026 or early 2027.

Interestingly, the romantic project had earlier sparked speculation about links to the Aashiqui franchise. However, it is now being developed as an independent film after navigating creative and legal challenges tied to the legacy. Despite the shift, the makers are reportedly aiming to retain the emotional depth and musical appeal associated with classic Hindi love stories.
Early glimpses from the sets suggest a noticeable shift in Kartik’s on-screen image, with the actor appearing in a more intense and grounded avatar, something that has already caught the attention of fans online.
Meanwhile, filmmaker Anurag Basu, who is helming the romantic drama, has also spoken about his long-gestating biopic on legendary singer Kishore Kumar. Sharing his eagerness to begin work on the project, Basu said, “I’m dying to jump into that film as soon as I get over with the film which I’m doing right now,” adding, “I want to finish this and get into Kishore as soon as possible.”
