Actress Sonakshi Sinha is all set to embrace one of the most strikingly original roles of her career with Jatadhara, where she portrays Dhan Pisachani — a celestial being born from the union of good and evil, beauty and menace. The mythological fantasy promises to unveil a character unlike any seen before in Indian cinema — both divine and dangerous in equal measure.
At the heart of this creative transformation is producer Prerna Arora, who led the intensive three-month research and design process that brought Dhan Pisachani to life.
Creating a Goddess Beyond Good and Evil
Producer Prerna Arora shared insights into the long and meticulous journey of shaping the character’s visual identity, “Dhan Pisachani, in the truest sense, is the divine form
of energy. While the directors had a certain idea of her look, I visualized her differently. After several discussions, we found a middle ground — making her more cinematic and visually magnetic while staying true to her mythological essence. We spent almost three months researching her aura, jewellery, and overall design to ensure she embodies both grace and power,” Prerna revealed.

She further described the uniqueness of the character, saying, “Pisachani is neither a Goddess nor a Devi — she is an energy that holds both good and evil, beauty and menace, in equal measure.”
Inspired by the Legend of Samudra Manthan
The origins of Dhan Pisachani in Jatadhara are rooted in Hindu mythology. According to ancient lore, when Lord Shiva consumed the deadly Halahal poison during the Samudra Manthan (Churning of the Ocean), a few drops of the poison fell upon Earth — giving birth to the Piśāchanīs, female entities that embodied both destruction and divinity.
Director Venkat Kalyan explained the creative vision behind the character’s aesthetics and persona, “We wanted Pisachani to look celestial yet fearsome — a divine force that commands attention. She is not a figure of worship or horror; she represents the duality of creation itself. Her look, her gaze, her aura — everything was designed to make the audience feel both awe and reverence.”
Designing the Visual Language of Divinity
Costume designer Mohit played a pivotal role in Sonakshi’s transformation. Every aspect of her costume — from the intricate gold ornaments to the layered fabrics — was researched extensively to ensure authenticity. “Each texture and pattern mirrors Dhan’s symbolism — wealth, balance, and cosmic energy,” said Prerna.
The result is a breathtaking fusion of mythology and cinema, merging ancient aesthetics with contemporary visual storytelling.
A Cinematic Milestone for Sonakshi Sinha
Sonakshi’s portrayal of Dhan Pisachani is expected to mark one of the most visually powerful moments in her filmography. With Jatadhara, she steps into a narrative that celebrates the divine feminine while exploring the complex interplay of darkness and light.
As producer Prerna Arora puts it, “This isn’t just about mythology — it’s about energy, emotion, and evolution. Dhan Pisachani represents all of it.”
With its rich symbolism, research-driven design, and Sonakshi’s commanding screen presence, Jatadhara is shaping up to be a cinematic spectacle that redefines how Indian mythology is visualized on screen.
