Former India cricketer Parthiv Patel highlighted three key aspects that Team India must focus on when they face South Africa in the upcoming two-Test series starting on November 14.
The Proteas are in India
for a multi-format series, which includes two Test matches, followed by three ODIs and five T20Is.
The Shubman Gill-led side recently won their Test series against the West Indies at home, securing victory in both games of the two-match series. However, they will face a significant challenge as they prepare to take on the reigning World Test Champions with a relatively young squad.
What India Need To Do?
Parthiv Patel, speaking on JioStar, emphasized three crucial factors for the hosts as they prepare to face the Proteas. He said, “Expect a lot of runs from India’s top order. A comeback from Kuldeep Yadav, he will definitely take some wickets in India. There are a lot of things which we’re talking about, so hopefully we find the right combination.”
IND vs SA – Test Series Schedule
- 1st Test: November 14–18 – Eden Gardens, Kolkata
- 2nd Test: November 22–26 – Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati
India’s top-order batsmen showed strong form against the West Indies last month and will be eager to perform well against the South African bowlers.
Yashasvi Jaiswal is expected to replicate his impressive innings from last month, while KL Rahul will aim to build momentum in the match. Sai Sudharsan, who has garnered significant support, will strive to meet the team’s and coach’s expectations.
With both Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja named in the squad, Patel believes that if given a chance, Kuldeep will not disappoint and will take several wickets.
India fielded both spinners against the Windies, with Kuldeep taking four wickets in the first game and eight in the second. His impressive performance included a five-wicket haul in the Delhi Test, contributing to India’s smooth victory.
