Runners-up the last time, South Africa begin their campaign at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 in Ahmedabad on Monday, February 9. The Proteas will be up against Canada as they eye a winning start to their run in what is certainly a tricky Group D of the competition.
Led by Aiden Markram, the South Africans carry plenty of firepower and experience of T20 cricket and Indian conditions into the tournament.
The Proteas, who boast of several IPL superstars within their ranks, have been on multiple recent tours to India. They were here earlier in the season, facing world champions India in a five-match series. in their rare outing against a formidable ICC full-member opposition.
